In the spring of 2017, our family of six followed God's lead to Nhowe Mission and the Brian Lemons Memorial Hospital, located in Zimbabwe, Africa. During the six months that we were there, we put our whole hearts into serving in the church, hospital, school, and orphanage, while immersing ourselves in the amazing Zimbabwean culture.

We are prayerful and passionate about our work continuing at Nhowe Mission and next time we look forward to taking some of you along, too! Stay tuned for more information!

God completely took care of any financial stress we had before moving to Zimbabwe.  With giving people fully backing us, we prayerfully met our fundraising goal of $30,000.  The money we raised was spent on things like*...
-  food and living expenses for the six months we were gone
-  airplane tickets for our team of six
- buying a car for the hospital (and that we used for transportation while we were there)
- furnishing the hospital guest house, which will make future mission trips to the area more convient
- donating money toward a new church building for a church plant in the Nhowe area
- buying heaters for the wards (there was no heat when we got there and it gets below 30 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter months!)
- buying curtains for the windows of the labor and delivery ward (there currently were none)
- paying for men and women to attend church retreats that could otherwise not afford
- buying new basketball hoops for the school (along with other sports related needs)
-  paying school fees for orphans
-  starting up "social soccer" as an event to engage the staff of the mission on both sides to get to know each other
-  buying the hospital a projector and speaker system, which is important for the continuing education classes held for the hospital staff at Nhowe.  We also started a "move night" outreach at the hospital, which was a devotional and movie every Friday night at the hospital.  This was a great thing for the patients who were otherwise just stuck in the hospital bed with nothing to do for hours on end.  It was also beneficial for the whole community, most people don't even have electricity, so watching a movie was a BIG treat!
-  helped with the payments to get the school bus fixed

* I'm sure I'm missing many other things!  Hopefully Erik will get an official list typed up and posted soon.  Thanks so much to everyone who supported us.  We could not have done it without your partnership.  If you still feel moved to give to the work going on in Zimbabwe, you can make donations to the East Point church of Christ

A special shout out to all of you who bought t-shirts last year!  The t-shirt sales were a great kick-start to our campaign.  We LOVE to see our t-shirts out and about!  If you never got one and you are interested in buying one, leave a comment below!  If we get at least seven people who are interested, we'll get some more ordered and send the money raised over to Zim.  They come in all sizes (kids XS to adult 3XL) and five different colors.
